Young Fastener Professionals (YFP) is committed to providing educational and networking opportunities for ambitious young professionals desiring professional growth within the fastener industry. We empower, advocate for, and provide opportunities for education and networking for young fastener professionals.

Young Fastener Professionals is a community of young professionals that seek to offer a glimpse of the fastener industry through the perspective of the next generation. While respectfully preserving the industry’s past, the next generation is hastily shaping the future of the business spectrum through technology, while implementing the most current business practices. This organization aims to create a platform for young professionals, and the businesses employing them to develop, educate and enhance a variety business initiatives. YFP also serves as forum for networking, referrals and professional support to further improve the fastener industry as a whole.

NFDA/YFP Mentorship Program

AIM will serve the needs of young fastener professionals by pairing them with willing mentors focused on advancing the mentee’s personal career goals. Mentors and mentees will be matched based on professional skills that the mentee wants to acquire and that the mentor has to offer. 

Goals

  • To provide support and education opportunities to young fastener professionals.
  • To provide young fastener professionals with opportunities to enhance their career development and expand their professional networks.
  • To encourage more young fastener professionals to assume leadership roles in the fastener industry.
  • To expose mentors and their organizations to new ideas.
  • To develop a more diverse leadership pool for the fastener industry.

Program Requirements

  • Mentors and mentees must be willing to assume the appropriate roles as defined below.
  • In order to participate in this program, mentees and mentors must complete their respective applications.
  • Participants need to be willing to make a minimum twelve-month commitment. 
  • Mentees may only have one mentor at a time.
  • Mentors need not be from NFDA member companies, but priority will be given to mentors from member companies.
  • Mentors and mentees must be available to provide periodic feedback to NFDA and YFP regarding the program

The 2023 program started in January and will run until the end of the year.  New applications for the 2024 program will be accepted starting in June of 2023.
