IFE Cancels September 2020 Event

IFE Press Release:

Since 1981, the International Fastener Expo (IFE) has brought the entire fastener industry together at one time and one place. Each year, the community gathers at the show to see customers and vendors, network with colleagues, and source new products or suppliers. We heard our community and deeply appreciate the consistent feedback which has enabled us to continually improve IFE year after year and remain the #1 Fastener Expo in North America.

Driven by our responsibility to serve your best interests, we regret to announce that we are cancelling this year’s International Fastener Expo, which was scheduled to take place September 28-30, 2020, at the Mandalay Bay Convention Centre Las Vegas, NV.

Recent developments have made it impossible to bring our community together safely and successfully. This is due to the ongoing progression of the COVID-19 pandemic, including the latest government data, measures, and guidelines on phased reopening plans in the U.S.; the number of confirmed cases worldwide and domestically; current quarantines, containment areas, stay at home orders, and restrictions on congregating and large gatherings imposed by states and other government and public health authorities; the inability of IFE's international community to travel to the show due to travel restrictions and bans; and the various company-imposed travel restrictions on employees affecting attendees and participating companies. The health and safety of our customers, partners, and employees remains of paramount concern to us.

Though we won’t get to see you in person this year, our team is committed to finding new ways to keep the industry connected and we are in the process of launching IFE Online Experience. Our goal is to provide a platform where you can virtually meet customers you have been missing all year, have access to a proven match-making program, and learn from industry leaders and about current trends. Please expect more updates on this in coming weeks.

We are also confirmed to return to the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas next year on September 21-23, 2021. We are excited to welcome you to the International Fastener Expo 2021!

As a valued attendee, please know that our team is currently working out all the details on logistics and policies affected by this cancellation and around your participation and registration fees. We appreciate your patience as we work through these details. You will receive communication with complete information as soon as possible.

Thank you for your continued support and for being a valued member of the International Fastener Expo community.

How to Improve Digital Sales During Coronavirus

From the NAW Blog

Coronavirus has thoroughly disrupted the sales processes for distributors. Not only have customer demands changed, but the process of selling has also been transformed. Social distancing has forced an accelerated digitization upon distributors. Suddenly, businesses that relied heavily on personal interactions and skilled outside sales reps are unarmed. Meanwhile, inside sales, customer service and e-commerce have become key channels. In this post, I’ll explain how distributors can accelerate the digitization of their sales channels to meet the demands of this new market.

From the NAW Blog

Many distributors think they need to look like Amazon to compete in today’s market. After all, more than 197 million people visit Amazon every month to shop the more than 12 million products available, according to BigCommerce. But just because Amazon is a household name doesn’t mean that distributors need to emulate its every move to be competitive in the digital distribution game.

How Can You Enable the Future of Business for Customers? – Distributors in the Digital Era #73

From the NAW Blog

Distributors are in a strong position to enable the future of business for customers, and they can build on their reputation for customer service and support, including product advice, training and ad hoc recommendations for improving customer operations. But much more is needed. Distributors must have in-depth knowledge of the customer’s market dynamics and competitive challenges, and they must offer foresight about what the future holds. Commitment starts at the top, and leaders must establish new processes for working with customers and metrics that are about achieving customer success measured in terms that are relevant for customers. Successful distributors will build a culture that goes beyond responding to customer requests. They will suggest innovations, line up resources for execution and work to implement plans.

Distributors Are Using Intent Data to Supercharge Sales

From the NAW Blog

Distributors need to collect data fast. If distributors can compile lots of data quickly, they’ll be able to provide AI-enhanced customer service and draw customers away from competitors. However, if distributors are slow to aggregate data, the competition (i.e. other distributors, or online-only players like Amazon) will claim their customers first.

NAW Request for Anti-Trust Investigation of Amazon

NAW has just sent letters to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and the Department of Justice (DOJ) requesting that their agencies open an investigation into the General Services Administration’s (GSA) proposed e-Marketplace platform (Section 846) and Amazon’s unfair and anti-competitive practices and processes.

NAW believes that GSA should be fostering maximum competition at this stage of Section 846’s implementation.  Even though GSA identified three credible e-commerce purchasing channels, GSA’s latest Request for Proposal (RFP), Commercial e-Marketplace Acquisition (October 1, 2019), confines its pilot test to only one model, that of the e-marketplace portal, the Amazon platform.  All other e-commerce models have been excluded.
