Program

To thrive in the future, the fastener industry needs to develop and support the next generation of leaders. Therefore, the National Fastener Distributors Association (NFDA) and Young Fastener Professionals (YFP) are partnering to foster and support the industry’s future leaders.

Our inaugural YFP Leadership Academy was so well received last year, we are hosting another one for 2018. We are pleased to announce Shelly Alcorn, CAE - futurist and thought-leader – is returning to facilitate this collaborative, highly interactive experience designed specifically for our Leadership Academy participants.

We will want to hear what your concerns are as we design the program. We will be seeking your direct input so we can craft the customized agenda and include topics of particular concern raised by the group who will be attending. Proposed discussion topics include such items as:

  • What are the most pressing career challenges faced by young professionals?
  • What will the workplace of the future look like, what skills will I need to thrive and how will I get them?
  • What kinds of communication challenges exist in the workplace and what positive strategies can be used to overcome them?
  • What emotional intelligence is required to effectively persuade others and participate in decision-making processes?
  • What career development programs, products, and resources can associations like NFDA and YFP provide that would be most valuable to young professionals?

The biggest opportunities for younger professionals are to establish relationships early in their career, to continue learning (post-formal education), and to be involved in advancing their industry. The NFDA and YFP Leadership Academy will engage professionals from all generations, to ensure a pipeline of future leaders.
