Gordon's family has shared the following information with NFDA:

Gordon, age 76, entered the presence of his Lord on October 19, 2019. He was born on July 7, 1943 to Gustave and Joan (Alkema) Vandermeulen in Grand Rapids, MI. Gordon married Elaine Brunz on June 20, 1965. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Elaine; children Jodi and Rob Hanlon, Quinn and Sydney; Grant and Jennifer Vandermeulen, Gideon and Nathan; brother Jim and Jill Vandermeulen; sister Judy Vandermeulen; brothers-in-law Wayne (Joyce) Brunz, David (Cindy) Brunz, Roy (Sue) Brunz; nieces and nephews. 

He was a graduate of South High School (1961) and Taylor University (1965). Gordon was owner and president of Grand Rapids Bolt & Nut Company/Great Lakes Fasteners for 40 years. He was an entrepreneur who grew many businesses and was involved in several business and community organizations. He enjoyed working with people to assist them in developing their talents to the fullest. God gave him a heart for philanthropy. He enjoyed travelling and visiting missionaries around the world to support and encourage them. 

Visitation will be Friday, November 1 at Grace Community Church in Hudsonville from 5 to 8 pm. A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 2 at Grace Community Church at 2 pm.
