Great leaders are great communicators, building strong teams, creating change, and overcoming struggles. The ability to influence behavior is dependent upon the credibility and authority of a given leader. But how does one inspire, elevate and motivate an organization to rise to its highest potential? The key to all relationships is our capacity to build trust.
Research indicates that our brains love a story. We are, it seems, hard-wired for narrative. Storytelling builds trust, credibility, and cooperation. When we use storytelling correctly, we can build relationships and influence outcomes. In this session, presented by Ann marie Houghtailing, participants will learn:
- How storytelling impacts the brain
- How to create a basic narrative
- How to use storytelling to influence behavior
After launching an Institute for Sales and Business Development with a private San Diego university, Ann marie proceeded to turn her attention towards the private sector to help companies and individuals increase revenue with heart, humanity, and humor.
She authored How I Created a Dollar Out of Thin Air, toured her one-woman show Renegade Princess, and has written a second one-woman show entitled Raising Humans based on her TEDx talk. Ann marie’s writing has appeared in Yahoo! Finance, Daily Worth, Huffington Post, San Diego Business Journal and Ms. JD.

Supply Chain Relationship Issues
Friday, March 17 - 10:45 am - 12:00 pm
Supply chain management is about more than making sure all the different links in your network are operating in the right way. Relationships play a central role in supply chains, and if fastener distributors don't get them right, they'll feel the ramifications all the way from suppliers to customers.
Our panel of industry experts will share insights on how they make sure the links in their supply chains are strong. Moderator Russ Doran (Wurth Timberline) will be joined by panelists Gary Cravens (Advance Components), Sara Mallo (Rotor Clip Company) and Don Nowak (Falcon Fastening Solutions).
Lunch with Professor Reinhold Würth
Friday, March 17 - 12:15 - 1:15 pm
Fastener industry luminary Professor Reinhold Würth will join us by video to share his thoughts on leadership and success. This is certain to be a thought-provoking program!

With sales over $11 billion euros, the Würth Group is now the leading global supplier of assembly and fastening materials for the automotive, construction and engineering trades. Their 70,000 employee workforce is found in more than 400 companies in 80-plus countries and includes an outside sales force of 31,000, which is the largest in the world,
Professor Würth has received many honors over the years, including, but not limited to being inducted into the Hall of Fame of German Industry and receiving the Ludwig Erhard medal, which rewards individuals who have attained exemplary results in their work for the public good and for the development of the social market economy.
Business Owners Roundtables and Business Executives Roundtables
Friday, March 17 - 2:30 - 4:30 pm
Two different sessions: one for business owners and one for your company's key executives. At this conference, instead of the large forums, we’ll have roundtables to allow for smaller group discussions, making input easier. You can submit topics for discussion in advance to JChristensen@nfda-fastener.org or jump in during the session.
