Associates

Mission

NFDA is a trade association of qualified fastener related companies which recognizes the worldwide nature of our industry. Our members share a common leadership interest in the areas of providing:

  • Professional Education and Training
  • A Vital Communications Network
  • Industry Trends
  • Coordination of Geographic and Diverse Interests
  • Timely Response to Pressing Needs
  • Social Interaction
  • A Proactive Voice in the Development of Specifications and Regulations

We will be an unequalled source of fastener expertise whose members exhibit the highest standard of integrity and ethical business practices.

Purpose

The purpose(s) for which this association is formed shall be, in all ways lawful and consistent with the public interests are:

  1. To advance the interests of the fastener industry by promoting the distribution of fasteners through persons engaged in the industry.
  2. To collect and disseminate useful statistics and information for members
  3. To encourage enlarged and friendlier relationships between persons engaged in the fastener industry.
  4. To foster improvement in the service rendered by the fastener industry to consumers.
  5. To promote improvement of quality in and the expansion of markets for fasteners.
  6. To develop new uses for fasteners.
  7. To assist in the maintenance of sound relationships between the industry and its employees, its customers, the general public and the federal government.

To be eligible as an NFDA Associate member, the organization applying for membership must meet, and continue to meet, the definition of an Associate member in the NFDA Amended Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws:

An Associate Member may be a corporation, partnership, or individual and must be a reputable manufacturer of fasteners, fastening devices or related products, a distributor of fasteners selling primarily to fastener distributors, or a corporation, partnership or individual whose principle business is to provide products, materials or services to persons engaged in the fastener industry who are capable of making substantial contributions to the objective so the Association as stated in the Amended Articles of Incorporation and meets the qualifications/requirements for membership as established by the Board of Directors. Any Associate qualification/requirement for membership, except as stated in the Amended Articles of Incorporation, may be waived and/or changed by a majority vote of the members of the Board of Directors.”

Classification

In addition to the definition of an Associate member, the following must describe a Manufacturer’s North American operations:

  • Be a North American company actively engaged in the distribution of providing products, materials, and/or services other than fasteners, fastening devices and/or related products substantially to fastener Distributors, Manufacturers, Master Distributors, and/or Importers engaged in the distribution of fasteners, fastening devices and/or related products;
  • Have annual gross sales of products, materials, and/or services to fastener distributors, manufacturers, master distributors, and/or importers of at least $1,250,000;
  • Be able to provide a written description of established distribution sales policy;
  • Be engaged in the business of products, materials, and/or services to fastener distributors, manufacturers, master distributors, and/or importers under the same ownership for one year prior to the date of application for membership; and,
  • Be willing and able to make substantial contributions to the objectives of the Association

Associates are defined as one of the following:

  • Manufacturers
  • Importers
  • Master Distributors
  • Service Providers
